"The Lord of the Rings: War in the North puts a new spin on role-playing games by enabling up to three players to form their own Fellowship to fight Sauron's forces in the North. Although the game comes from Warner Brothers, which owns the rights to the hugely successful Peter Jackson movies, it is set in areas away from the main thrust of the movies. Locations available include Ettenmoors, Fornost, Mirkwood and Mount Gundabad. Some of the movie's locations are involved including Bree and Rivendell. Famous Lord of the Rings characters such as Gandalf, Elrond, Frodo, Bilbo, Legolas, Arwen and Aragorn can be interacted with as can characters from the books including Elrond's twin sons, the Ranger Halbarad and Radagast. The Lord of the Rings: War in the North involves levelling up characters as well as a series of action and dialogue events, all of which have their own moral outcomes. Players can choose to play one of three characters, each of which has their own particular skills and characteristics. These are: Eradan: a human Ranger - adept at using any weapon, he can dual wield weapons or use a bow. He can also use stealth skills. Farin: a dwarven champion from Erebor who can use a crossbow as his ranged weapon. He is also highly adept with melee weapons and can attack multiple enemies at once. Andriel: an Elven Loremaster who has been trained by Elrond. She can use magic both offesively and defensively, as well as dual wielding her staff alongside a blade. As well as playing collaboratively with two others, the game can also be playd solo by issuing orders to AI companions."
